The suspect does have a reported bail amount of $20,000 set at CCDC. Mr. Jones faces a charge of Burglary. He earned roughly a dollar of bail per "like." However, it makes little sense for Jones to post a bail bond in Las Vegas due to a hold for possible violation of a prior suspended sentence (on an unrelated case). A hearing on his new burglary case or the prior case has not been ascertained yet. We will likely know more after the holiday weekend.
Barely two days after a homeowner's Facebook video depicting a break in at this residence went viral, a suspect is in custody at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. Austin Jones (23 years old) surrendered himself into custody after being contacted by Metro investigators. The victim, Ed Vidal, had posted the surveilance footage to the social media site within hours after the 9am break in August 29, 2013. Vidal's digital video camera system captured the suspect and his vehicle in fairly accurate resolution from multiple views. The burglary occured in the Silverado area of town around Spencer and Pebble. Shortly after publishing the post, the video was "shared" over 20,000 times.
