What exactly am I on the hook for when I bail someone out?:
Well the answer to this is one can be varied.
Sometimes if you're calling to pay the bail money over the home with a credit or debit card, the answer is simple: You may not be liable for anything additional. Assuming your loved one is employed and/or well established in the community with solid roots here, they can take all added responsibilities upon themselves. In other words, if you simply pay the 15% premium over the phone, that person is solely responsible to show up to all court dates on his or her own. If that qualified defendant missed a court date thus putting our agency at risk for losing our full bail bond amount, they'd be financially and legally responsible and not you! This is a unique feature that our company can offer you as a valued customer! The best way to earn your business is by showing you how unique we are!
Sometimes it is simply not possible to pay only the premium and not be "on the hook" for your loved one's court appearances. Often we can get approval to post the bond with just the upfront payment via phone, but then there are added obligations you must fulfill. 1.) You'll need to fax, email, or complete our indemnitor (cosigner) forms online or in person within 24 hours. 2.) You may face out-of-pocket expenses (sometimes very minimal) should the defendant miss a court date or fail to comply with court's demands. However, we can let you know that most people do in fact attend their court dates. And even if they miss, we can help them get back on track with just a little effort on your part.
Bottom line: You have little to worry about, so let us help you!
