Brown is facing 5 counts of Contempt officials said Monday. A judge released him on his own recognizance after one day in jail because he was deemed a non-flight risk and not a danger to himself or others. I would probably concur. In TMZ's audio recording, you can see that the magistrate warned Brown a few times before finally sentencing him to 1 day in jail. In defiance and an unwillingness to stop talking back to the magistrate, an extra day was added, then another, and another, and then another. Joe Brown is heard a few times offering to pay the contempt fine of $10 and then even ups it to $20.
"Judge" Brown was reportedly there in support of a friend's case and doing some pro-bono representation. As it stands, the former TV judge is involved in a democratic primary race for the Shelby County District Attorney General. One has to wonder, was it all for show? Publicity to aid in his campaign? Or is it some good old-fashioned arrogance and pride? You be the judge. I know I should run for mayor of Corniness.
