So What Has Changed About Bail in North Las Vegas?
Unfortunately, a ton has changed with regard to how bail is done in the City of North Las Vegas. As you may or may not know, the North Las Vegas Detention Center closed in mid 2012. The city thought it more economically feasible to house its inmates at the City of Las Vegas Detention Center near Stewart and Mojave. In addition to the obvious over-crowding issues inmates now experience at that facility, there are numerous hurdles that can make that jail stay extremely difficult--both on the defendant and their family. Unlike common sense would dictate, one cannot simply post bail (cash or bail bond) directly at the detention center the inmate is housed in. One still must post the bail at the appropriate North Las Vegas Courthouse. On top of that one must discern "which" court to post the bail in. There is a North Las Vegas Justice Court and a North Las Vegas Municipal Court. Then, you must navigate court operating hours. They are different and one court (Municipal) is actually closed on Fridays. Once bail is posted, you then must rely on the court disseminating that info to the jail, so they'll let the inmate out. Any hesitation there can delay release even more than the normal 6-12 hour release time. Now what does one do when the courts close? Where do you pick up your loved one? Your bail agent here knows exactly what to do, and how to advise you. You can quickly see how important it truly is to have a bail agency that is knowledgeable in dealing with the North Las Vegas Courts.
