It would seem to me that there has to be a correlation or even a cause and effect relationship with our society's (local and national) indifference and sometimes I fear hatred toward the things of God. The more devoted to the world we become, the more apparent the dismal aftermath of our behavior becomes.
It is becoming pretty apparent that violence and crime activity is getting more substantial here in the Las Vegas area, and if one checks national news, it seems escalating everywhere else too. Again we see a news story out of North Las Vegas, where a police officer was shot at. Luckily, the officer is okay. The shooter however, was shot dead by police during the foot chase and ensuing shootout. An officer in Phoenix is recovering after being shot in the face by a perpetrator following a traffic stop. Severe domestic violence cases and high profile arrests are making local and national headlines. Crimes against little children are all over the news. Heart-breaking stuff. Sometimes I wonder if it really is getting worse or is it the age of instant news creating an increased perception of crime? I believe it's likely a combo of both factors. Things are getting worse, and we learning about it a lot faster too.
